Dear 4th Grade Parents,

We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We have a very busy and exciting week ahead of us. We are looking forward to the upcoming music concert and seeing everyone on Thursday night. Additionally, the tax deadline is fast approaching and Archway Lincoln is requesting your help! Below is more information on how to donate your tax credit. Also, more information on ordering your music concert DVD can be found below as well.

If you haven’t already, please click here and give to Archway Lincoln’s Tax Credit Drive today! Tax Credit contributions support our extra-curricular and athletic programs, field trips, clubs, and character-building programs. The Arizona Public School Tax Credit allows Arizona taxpayers to contribute to the public school of their choice and receive a dollar-for-dollar credit on their state taxes. Married couples may contribute up to $400 and single filers may contribute up to $200 and receive the full credit when they file their AZ state taxes. Pre-order your DVD of the Spring Concert!
DVDs will be available for purchase 1 for $20 or 2 for $35.
A portion of  the proceeds will be donated back to our school.
There will be a table in the lobby of the concert to order it as well.

Music Concert:
Believe it or not, the fourth annual mandatory Archway Lincoln Spring Concert is fast approaching.
It will be held on Thursday, April 4 at the
Higley Center for the Performing Arts
4132 E. Pecos Road Gilbert, AZ 85295.
The K-2 concert will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. with students arriving at 5:15 p.m.
The 3-5 concert will be 7-8 p.m. with students arriving at 6:45 p.m.
Attire for concerts is as follows:
Boys: White dress shirt, black pants, black dress shoes, and black socks. Hair should be combed neatly.
Girls: White top, black skirt (black tights optional), or black dress pants, and black dress shoes. Hair should be styled neatly.

Academics this week:

Language Arts:

  • Writing/Grammar:  This week we will Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events. We will also focus on using dialogue and description to develop experiences and events or show the responses of characters to situations.

  • Literature: This week in literature, we will continue to read Carry On, Mr. Bowditch. We will also practice reading comprehension and reading strategies in short stories and informational passages to review for AZ Merit.

Science: We will begin our unit on plants this week. Students will learn the similarities and differences between vascular and nonvascular plants.

Math: This week in math, we’ll be learning how to categorize triangles. Students will become familiar with common geometric terms like equilateral, isosceles, and scalene. We will also study lines of symmetry and practice creating symmetric figures.

History:  We will continue our Arizona history unit. We will focus Paleo-Indian groups as well as the Ancestral Puebloans and Mogollons.

Dear 4th Grade Parents,

Welcome back! We hope everyone had a wonderful and restful Spring Break! Thank you for making our Athletic Field Day and Relay for Life a success! We are eager to begin quarter 4, and it is hard to believe we are already at this point of the year.

This Thursday we will be traveling to the Arizona Museum of Natural History and Mesa Grande Cultural Park. 10:00am-1:30pm. Buses will leave at 9:30am

  • Literature: This week we will begin our last novel of the year, Carry on Mr. Bowditch. Please bring your book by Tuesday!

History:  We will continue our Arizona history unit focusing on region of the United States.

Dear 4th Grade Parents,

Welcome to the last week on quarter 3! We have an exciting week this week which culminates in our Field Day on Friday. This is a great opportunity for students to practice teamwork and humility after a long academic quarter.

  • Writing/Grammar:  Students will complete and turn in their essay on an Arizona landmark.



  • Literature: This week, we will continue reading Wizard of Oz, focusing on
using evidence from the text when inferring and comprehending the text.


Math: This week in math, we will finish our first unit about decimals by making test corrections.

Science: We will finish up our meteorology unit this week and begin reviewing for our AIMS science test.  

History:  We will begin our Arizona history unit. We will learn about the 5 regions of the United States to prepare students for a better understanding of how Arizona fits into the Southwest region and the United States as a whole.
