Dear 4th Grade Parents,

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It is hard to believe we are already into the final weeks of Quarter 3. We are excited to hear about everyone’s Thanksgiving break and get back into our routines!


Upcoming dates

  • Nov 27 - PSO Events Meeting

Academics this week:

Language Arts:

  • Writing/Grammar:   This  week,  students  will  continue  to  work  on  identifying  opinions in  written  passages.  Additionally,  they  will  identify  and use context  clues  and  correct  subject-verb  agreement  in  sentences.   


  • Literature: We will continue reading Robin Hood with a focus on identifying main ideas and supporting details. Also, remember to continue practicing Paul Revere’s ride at home.
   

Math: This week we will continue practicing finding the fraction of a set. This concept is closely related to multiplying fractions. At the end of the week, we’ll start practicing word problems related to fraction multiplication.

Science: We will continue our chemistry unit. Students will begin exploring topics including matter, and chemical properties of matter.

History: This be week we will be finishing up our European portion of the Middle Ages unit. We will study the Bubonic Plague and the impact it had on Europe and along trade routes.

Dear 4th Grade Parents,

As we head into Thanksgiving week we wanted to take the time to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for letting us be a part of your child’s educational journey. We have seen so much growth in our classes this year and we are excited to continue to work with each student and cultivate a love for truth, goodness and beauty. We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving break!

  • November 21-23 No School. Thanksgiving Break.

Academics this week:

Language Arts:

  • Writing/Grammar:   This  week,  students  will  be  focusing  on  correcting  run-on  and  fragment  sentences.  They  will  also  understand  the  usage  of modals  (may,  can,  must,  etc.).
   

Math: On Monday, we will continue to practice finding the fraction of a set. On Tuesday, we’ll spend time reviewing many of the fraction concepts we’ve learned so far.

Science: We will continue our chemistry unit. Students will begin exploring topics including matter, volume and mass and different properties.
History: This week we will continue our Middle Ages unit. We will hold a mock trial and discuss the trial of Joan of Arc.

Dear 4th Grade Parents,

We hope you all enjoyed a nice long weekend. This Veteran’s Day marked the 100 year anniversary of the end of WWI and as always, was a wonderful time to reflect on those who have served this great nation. We have an exciting week coming up! On Thursday we have our Music Concert at the Higley Center. This is an exciting event for students to showcase what they have been learning in music, and we are looking forward to seeing the culmination of their hard work.

Academics this week:

Language Arts:

  • Writing/Grammar:   Students  will  analyze  and  summarize  opinion  passages.  They  will  also  differentiate  commonly  confused  words.     


Math: This week in math, we will continue to practice subtracting mixed numbers. After that, we will begin to practice finding the fraction of a set. This will lead students into how to multiply a fraction by a whole number next week.

Science: We will begin our chemistry unit. Students will begin exploring matter, volume and mass.

History: This week we will continue our Middle Ages unit. We will learn about the HUndred Years War and also the story of Joan of Arc and her contribution to the Hundred Years War and the impact of her life and trial.
