Dear 4th Grade Parents,
We have an exciting week ahead of us with wonderful lessons and also a day to celebrate great works of literature on Wednesday. We are looking forward to seeing the students costumes and enjoying the events of the day with our classes. As a reminder our week will be a bit shortened due to our early-release on Friday.

Academics this week:
Language Arts:
- Writing/Grammar: This week, students will be learning to write opinion paragraphs. They will organize, plan, and write these paragraphs independently.
- Literature: This week we will continue reading Prince Caspian chapters 10-13. Please also be sure to continue to encourage your child to practice Paul Revere’s Ride.
Math: In math this week, we will finish our first unit on Fractions. On Monday, the students will review what they’ve learned so far in preparation for the unit test on Tuesday, October 30th. We will begin a new unit covering the four operations of fractions after that.
Science: We will continue our unit on magnetism and electricity. We will learn about Earth’s magnetic field by experimenting with compasses and magnets. For our upcoming lesson on electricity students will need to bring in a 9 volt battery. Please send in a 9 volt battery this week with your child.
History: This week we will continue our Middle Ages unit by learning about two important figures during this period: Thomas Becket and Eleanor of Aquitaine.
