Quarter 2 Week 1

Dear 4th Grade Parents,

We hope you all had a wonderful Fall Break! It was so great to meet with all of you and discuss your child’s performance and goals for the upcoming year. We are excited to begin the second quarter and continue to build on what we started.

Greetings, Archway Lincoln Parents and Guardians!
Believe it or not, the fourth annual, mandatory Archway Lincoln Fall Concert is fast approaching. It will be held on           
 Thursday, November 15th
at the
Higley Center for the Performing Arts
4132 E. Pecos Road Gilbert, AZ 85295.
The 3-5 concert will be 7-8 p.m. with students arriving at 6:30 p.m.
Attire for concerts is as follows:
Boys: White dress shirt, black pants, black dress shoes, and black socks. Hair should be combed neatly.
Girls: White top, black skirt (black tights optional), or black dress pants, and black dress shoes. Hair should be styled neatly.

Academics this week:

Language Arts:

  • Writing/Grammar:    This week, we will be continuing to work on writing effective summaries. This week's focus will be on discerning a narrative in a poem and summarizing its key events.


  • Literature: This week will continue reading Prince Caspian. We will also begin our study of the poem “Paul Revere’s Ride” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The students will memorize the first three stanzas by October 25th.

Math: This week in math, we’ll be learning how to add and subtract like fractions. We’ll also discuss mixed numbers and practice adding and subtracting with mixed numbers.

Science: We will begin our unit on magnetism and electricity this week.

History: We will continue our study of the Middle Ages and focus on city life and famous women during the medieval times.
